Felicia Sloin is a Jewish “Entertain-ucator” who uses music, percussion, dance, puppets, sign language, shtick (and anything else she can think of) to entertain and inspire people of all ages to celebrate Jewish holidays, culture and values.
Felicia has been a performer since childhood. Her classical vocal training began when she was nine years old and has continued throughout her life. In high school and at Oberlin college, her primary focus was musical theater. During her college years, she spent a semester at Gallaudet University in Washington, DC learning about sign language and Deaf culture.
In the past ten years, Felicia has become reconnected to her Jewish heritage through music. She has performed with the internationally acclaimed group Vocolot, at the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC and in venues throughout the country. She has served as a cantorial soloist at congregations in Fresno and Berkeley, California, and in Newton, Massachusetts. Currently, she lives in Northampton, Massachusetts where she sings at congregations throughout the Pioneer Valley and New England.
Felicia is known in the Northampton Community for her “Jewish Family Jam” classes, which started primarily as a way to create community among new Jewish and interfaith families. Since its inception three years ago, “Jewish Family Jam” has expanded to include family-friendly singing and entertainment for Jewish holidays, Shabbat services, gatherings, camps and other celebrations. Her most recent CD of Jewish children’s music, “Zeh Hayom”, was born of the music from “Jewish Family Jam” class and is currently available for purchase from CD Baby or iTunes.
Felicia performs and leads group singing for people of all ages. Please check out the calendar for upcoming events. If you are interested in booking Felicia to perform for your synagogue, preschool, community event, or anything else, please contact her.
